The U-C-IAV-elderly mapping tool has been developed at the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), Finland in collaboration with partners at the Department of Sociology and Human Geography, University of Oslo, Norway, the Centre for Climate Science and Policy Research, Linköping University, Sweden and the Finnish Meteorological Institute (henceforth referred to as the "partner institutions").

The selection, compilation, processing and documentation of the data included in the mapping tool have been undertaken by the research team, which takes full responsibility for any errors in the transcribing of underlying data or computer coding used to process the data and present the maps. Data and maps presented in the mapping tool are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute legal or scientific advice or service. The partner institutions make no warranties or representations, express or implied as to the accuracy or reliability of the Web Tool or the original data contained therein.

Users are offered a wide flexibility to select indicators of exposure/sensitivity and adaptive capacity, to weight the indicators and to combine them into indices for mapping. These features of the mapping tool are designed to help users to think about the relative importance of different indicators in influencing patterns of vulnerability. Accordingly, the research team members and partner institutions assume no responsibility for the manner in which users may wish to portray maps of exposure/sensitivity, adaptive capacity or vulnerability, or any interpretations or conclusions users may infer from the resulting maps.

The boundaries, colours, denominations, and other information shown on any map in the tool do not imply any judgement or endorsement on the part of the partner institutions concerning the delimitation or the legal status of any territory or boundaries. In no event are the partner institutions liable for any form of damage arising from the application or misapplication of the tool, any maps, or any associated materials.
